Albert Leroy Green

He moved to Pacoima, Calif with his sister Carolyn in June, 1958 to live with their father and step-mother Gladys (Kinnell) Green. He resided in So. Calif the rest of his life, mostly in San Pedro. After elementary school he went to San Fernando Junior and Senior High Schools. He was a champion wrestler in high school. His younger brothers also wrestled in High School under the same coach.

After high school he continued wrestling, and actively participated in kickboxing, karate, racquetball and handball. He enjoyed taking his nephews and other kids to wrestling and kickboxing exhibitions at the Olympic Auditorium and Benny Urquidez’ Jet Center. He also enjoyed attending their youth sports games and playing paddle tennis with them. As a youth activity organizer, he organized camping trips and other youth activities, especially for kids who did not have these opportunities.

Albert was a longshoreman for 31 years. He loved being a crane operator and was conscientious and serious about his work. He was active in the ILWU. He traveled to other countries for pleasure and to visit other ports.

He was active in social activities. He was extremely generous and helped friends, family and strangers in need. His friendly and outgoing personality made him many lifelong friends.

Albert passed away peacefully on Saturday, August 1, 2026. He leaves to cherish his life and memories, three aunts Aunt Naomi of Chicago, IL, El Dana of Topeka, KS, and Aunt Ruth of Lenexa, KS; his sister Carolyn (Sam); brother Michael (Alam); brother Maurice (Connie); sister-in-law Linda; adopted step-daughters Rita (Ignacio) and Christina; nephews Daniel, Alex, Miles, Tommy; nieces Felicia, Vanessa, Dena, Eileen; great nephews and nieces; cousins; and many friends.

The family thanks the caregivers who showed him respect and compassion.
