Israel, Audrey Ann, a resident of Torrance for nearly 40 years, passed away on Tuesday, May 12, 2009 in Torrance. Born in Stockton, CA, Audrey was 61 when she died. Audrey was a graduate from Mira Costa High School Class of '66. She was a member of and licensed driver for the National Hot Rod Association. Her passion and hobby in life was the automobile sport of drag racing; something that she shared with her husband. She is described by her colleagues and fellow drivers as a "fierce competitor" and a one of only a handful of woman that competed locally in the sport for nearly 4 decades. She is survived by her loving Husband, James Israel of Torrance, CA, Son, James Israel, Daughter, Tamara McDermott, Brother Randall Morris, sister Veronica McKenzie, and 4 grandchildren. The memorial service will be held at Rice Mortuary Chapel on Saturday, May 30, 2009 at 2:00 P.M.
