
Betty Andrews, a 55 year resident of Redondo Beach passed away Monday February 27, 2006 in Torrance. Born in Chicago Ill, Betty was 74 when she died. Betty was a police officer for the city of Manhattan Beach from 1966-1972. Owner of Manhattan Stationers 1972-1991. Member of Soroptimist International of Manhattan Beach since 1969. Served as president in 1973. Member of Manhattan Beach chamber of commerce board of directors 1973- 1980. Served as president 1978. Received business person of the year 1988. Active in South Redondo little league as team mother and secretary 11 years. Volunteer at multiple hospitals and the So. Bay Civic Light Opera. She is survived by son, Jim Andrews of Redondo, daughter, Karen (Rick) Henderson of Walnut Creek, and son Michael Andrews of Walnut Creek. Grandchildren Chris Henderson, Jaime Bergin, Emily Henderson, Sean Andrews and Ian Andrews. Great grandchildren Faith Bergin and Savannah Bergin. Betty's passions included baseball, golf, bingo and tap dancing with the Toe Tappers of Redondo Beach. A gathering of family and friends will be held at Rice Mortuary on Thursday March 2, 2006 from 4:00 p.m. till 8:00 p.m. The service will be held also at Rice Mortuary on Friday March 3, 2006 at 1:00 p.m. Burial will follow at Pacific Crest Cemetery in Redondo Beach, and a reception will follow at Redondo Union High School.
