Betty Leone Held

Held, Betty Leone, an 82 year resident of the South Bay, passed away on Tuesday, July 4, 2006 at her home in Torrance, surrounded by her loving family, after a courageous battle with cancer. Born in Redondo Beach, CA, Betty was 82 when she died. Betty was a member of St. James Parish and volunteered for Church activities for many years. She was employeed at Allen/Kenoyer Glass as a stained glass artisian for 25 years.. She enjoyed reading, gardening, senior activities, and baseball. Her passions were her family, friends, and the desert.

She is survived by her Daughter, Kathleen (Don) Schneiderhan of Anaheim Hills, CA; Son, John (Janice) Held of Steamboat Springs, CO; Son, Donald Held of Boulder, CO; Brother, Clyde (Jerre) O'Dowd of Huntsville, AL; Brother, William O'Dowd of Redondo Beach, CA. She was preceded in death by her Husband, John E. "Jack" Held, Sr., Father, Frank O'Dowd, Mother, Madgel O'Dowd.

The Service will be held at St. James Catholic Church in Redondo Beach on Monday July 10, 2006 at 10am, followed by a Reception in the Hall. Burial will take place at Pacific Crest Cemetery in Redondo Beach at 1pm.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Cancer Society, Mothers Against Drunk Drivers, the Multiple Sclerosis Society, a Hospice or Charity of your choice.
