I am sending my deepest condolences and prayers for the family of such an amazing woman. Mrs.Charles made a huge impact on me as a beginning teacher more than 25 years ago. She embodied excellence in her teaching and made sure her students excelled,pushing them to meet high expectations. Her grace, style, wit, compassion, and love she had for the Tibby family was admirable. I have so many memories with Mrs. Charles. From mornings chatting over coffee to car rides home  with her that were not completed until we stopped for french fries at her favorite burger stand :), every moment shared with her was filled with laughter, shared wisdom, and love. May the memories you have sustain you and may God continue to keep you and your family. Ms. Charles is a Tibby legend.She will be missed  and remembered.

Thinking of you with love. It was my pleasure to have met you, and my privilege to have known you, however briefly.  I'll always remember the Mother's Day brunch we shared with our children.  Your family is a credit to your example of a life very worthily and well lived.  You used it wisely. May you continue to positively influence all those you touched.   Thank you.

We just never know when the last time we will see or talk to each other. I’m thankful Aunt Bettye called me on June 9th. I now cherish that one minute phone conversation. Family, you have my deepest sympathy  in the loss of your Mom, and your grandmother. I pray that the memories  you have of her bring you comfort and strength  during this time.  Bettye and I shared a "special bond" as we worked together for years at CUSD.  We remained very close  friends, as she would often tell me "listen  Dairy you are my little sister, so listen to me", (even though she was only a few months older), and then she would  go on to give me sound advice.  She was  a GREAT TEACHER, whereas parents would  beg to place their children in her class, because every child was her mission to teach.  Her students always excelled and she expected nothing but excellence from each and everyone of them.  You speak about "no child left behind.  That was BETTYE CHARLES motto.  I often saw her take her lunch time to tutor her students in order for them to understand  their lessons.  The parents loved her!  Her students adored Ms. Charles.   She was my COFFEE DRINKING BUDDY (every morning  when we began to work and every afternoon after school let out), she was a FRIEND, we PRAYED  together every morning, most of all, she was my SISTER, and we talked and SHARED nearly everything as SlSTERS do.  My heart truly hurts because l will truly miss our long  talks in the evening.  REST Sister, and as we would say when we would get off the phone, "ALRIGHT SISTER, I NEED TO GO TO  SLEEP, I WILL TALK TO YOU IN THE MORNING,  HAVE A GOOD NlGHT,  l LOVE YOU"! May the LORD be with you Dutch & Padjit as you put your precious mother to rest in peace with the LORD. I fondly remember my aunt’s smile and laughter while she prepared delicious Louisiana food as we reminisced about our family togetherness in Carson. It was a precious and memorable time in my life during my family’s visit to CA years past. I often think of her with only the best intentions. Sadness falls, but Joy proceeds. Sincere love, Donna and family!
