Blanca Schneider, affectionately known as “Titaâ€, a 69 year resident of Hermosa Beach, passed away at home on March 31, 2011, surrounded by her family.
She is survived by and will be greatly missed by her entire family: sons Bill (Chris), Bob (Dana), and daughter Linda Tims; grandchildren Stu, Jane, Doug, Erica, Steve, Matt, Nick, Chris, Tim, Danielle, Devon and Drew; and great-grandchildren William, Ryan, Anthony, Thomas, Duncan, Dylan, Charley, Mikaela, Sienna, Isabella, and Jack; and her two care providers Daisy and Conchita. Her husband of 71 years, Bill, passed away in 2009.
Blanca was born in Monterrey, Mexico and grew up in Los Angeles. After graduating from Immaculate Heart High School, she moved on to UCLA, where she was a Chi Omega and graduated in 1938. While at UCLA, she met her future husband Bill, and married him after graduation.
She never forgot her Hispanic roots, and taught Spanish for 60 years from her home, and at Compton College. She was devoted to her Catholic religion and had a special faith in St. Jude. She loved her family, American Martyrs Church, UCLA, Chi Omegas, Sandpipers, cooking, sewing, gardening and speaking Spanish to anyone. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends.
A funeral mass will be celebrated at American Martyrs Catholic Church, in Manhattan Beach on Friday, April 8, 2011, at 12:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be to The National Shrine Of St. Jude at www.shrineofstjude.org
