Brian Thomas Bixler

Brian Thomas Bixler, 22, was born in Torrance to Tim and Virginia Bixler on August 17, 1994. He was raised in the Hollyglen neighborhood of Hawthorne and lived there his entire life. Brian attended the Wiseburn schools and graduated from Da Vinci Science High School. After high school he attended Cal Poly Pomona and then El Camino College, while working in the hospitality business.

Brian had varied interests throughout his life. As a very young boy, he was fascinated with insects, bugs and reptiles. He enjoyed his pet bearded dragon lizard and a beautiful black Labrador Retriever named Jake. He later developed an interest in gardening which quickly transitioned to a desire for fresh vegetables and then ultimately a passion for cooking when he was 10. He had a chefs pallet and cooked gourmet dishes for family and guests. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, hiking, camping and spending time with family and friends.

Brian passed away on Tuesday, March 7, 2017 in Hermosa Beach, California. He was a beautiful, gentle, fun loving young man with an amazing spirit and a big heart.

Brian is survived by parents Timothy and Virginia Bixler and sister Sarah. He is also survived by several loving aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. Brian leaves many happy memories with all who loved him.

A Memorial Service will be held at noon on Saturday, March 25, 2017 at Rice Mortuary in Torrance. A reception follows immediately in Rice's Lighthouse Reception Room until 4:00pm.
