
Bridget, or Breda as she was known, passed away early Thursday morning, January 14, 2010, after a brief bout of pneumonia. She was 90 years old. Breda was born in Dublin, Ireland on June 17, 1919. She and her husband John, young daughter Barbara and infant son Gerard, immigrated to the United Stated, via Canada, in 1957. Originally living in Santa Monica for a few years, she and her family moved to Manhattan Beach, in time for her last child, John to be born. Besides being a housewife and mother, Breda found time to continue her education. She took classes from French to French cooking. Breda worked in May Company for several years. She was manager at May Co. She retired from May Co. in 1975 at the age of 55. Breda's Catholic religion was the mainframe of her life. She was an active member of the Third Order of St Francis for many years.
She is survived by her daughter Barbara and sons Gerard and John; nine grand children: Brian, Keith, Connor, Bridget, Jack, Fiona, Kevin, Mairead, and Brian and her sister Jo Wilson of Santa Monica and her brother Eric Carroll of Dublin, Ireland.
A funeral mass will be celebrated in American Martyrs Church in Manhattan Beach February 1 at 11 o'clock.
