Camille Mayling Kealoha, 85, passed away peacefully at home in Torrance, California on Thursday January 8, 2026.
Camille was born in Honolulu, HI to Basillo and Helen Camello. Growing up in Waipahu, Hi on the island of Oahu, the oldest of 5 siblings, Roy Basillo Camello (deceased), Frank Camello (deceased), Gloria “Margie” Sabate (deceased), and Steven “Sonny” Camello. She grew up in a plantation village going to school and watching over her younger siblings. She attended St. Joseph’s then graduated from Waipahu High School. She attended The School of Business where she learned various secretarial tasks such as typing and shorthand. Her early beginnings started at the Dole Cannery working on the line perfecting pineapples for canning.
But life changed drastically at the age of 16 when a handsome young man named John Kealoha Jr crashed her 16th birthday party and the rest is history. They wed on December 31, 1960, while he was in the Air Force. They soon moved to the mainland where he was stationed in Indiana. After being discharged, they made their way across the country via Route 66 to California, with their first apartment in Lennox, CA then eventually buying their first and only house in Torrance, CA where they raised two children, John Kealoha III and Carleen Iwalani Kealoha-Ramirez.
Camille worked as an administrative assistant until she had kids then became a stay-at-home mom volunteering at her children's school. Eventually she went back to work in various places such as Burton Electronics, Hughes Aircraft and Raytheon.
Through the years, she’s enjoyed her trips with her family including the Grand Canyon, Vancouver, Virgin Islands, Jamaica, multiple camping trips (did you know she rode a dirt bike), Guam, Truck, Saipan and other locations across the country.
Camille’s homemaking skills were above and beyond exceptional…. cooking, sewing, crocheting, knitting, and especially baking. She loved to bake and her cookies are like no other. IYKYK
