
Carl Eugene Bender of Northridge, CA passed away Monday, December 1, 2003. Born in Lebanon, PA in 1920 to John A. and Margaret Bender, Mr. Bender was 83 years old. A World War II veteran, Mr. Bender served as a Sgt. in the Army Signal Corps for five years and was honorably discharged in 1946. Mr. Bender was a member in good standing of the Hesperian Lodge No. 264, Santa Maria, CA. A 50 year member in both the York and Scottish Rite Masonry and membership in Al Malaikah Shrine. An accomplished musician with many talents, Mr. Bender began his illustrious musical career studying the violin at age six. By age nine, Mr. Bender's obvious talent with the violin made him the spotlight of many radio programs. Eloquent at playing the violin, guitar, piano and theatre organ, he was a long-time member of the Los Angeles Theatre Organ Society, the Valley Aires Barbershoppers and many other musical clubs. Mr. Bender is survived by his loving wife Lola; son Jack A. Bender; daughter Marilyn Joyce Bender; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Mr. Bender was dearly loved and will be sorely missed by all. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Los Angeles Theatre Organ Society
