Catharina Frey of Palos Verdes died Friday, July 19 at Little Company of Mary Hospital of complications from Multiple Myeloma. A long-time resident of Palos Verdes Estates, she arrived from Hoek van Holland, the Netherlands in 1950 and settled on the peninsula in 1954. A member of the South Bay Bridge Club, Mrs. Frey had attained the highest level in this very competitive game, she was a Life Master. She was a very accomplished ballroom dancer as well as a passionate swimmer and could be seen swimming the waters at RAT Beach near the old Palos Verdes Swim Club. An avid reader, Mrs. Frey was an active member of the Palos Verdes Library where she was a frequent volunteer. She is survived by her husband, Robert Frey; two daughters, Mara Klein and Ellen McCourt; three grandchildren; and five brothers and sisters. Funeral services will be held Saturday, July 27, 1:00 PM at Green Hills Chapel, 27501 S. Western, Rancho Palos Verdes. Interment will follow services at Green Hills Memorial Park.
