
Charles "Chuck" A. Morlan passed peacefully from this life on August 10, 2011. He was born on August 17, 1929 in the Blackhills of South Dakota (Lead), where he learned to hunt and fish at his father's side. As a teen and young man he raced off-road on his Indian motorcycle which was a great love of his. In his twenties he was in the United States Army Rangers and stationed in Germany. At 26 he bought his first home in South Torrance, California. Shortly after, he married his wife of 43 years, Grace "Terry" Morlan and welcomed her three young daughters, Peggy, Lyn and Sallie, into his life. Chuck and Terry went on to have a daughter together, Kim, completing their family.
Over the years, Chuck worked in the Aerospace industry with companies such as PSM, McDonald Douglas and Northrop. He was proud to have worked on projects for NASA and the Stealth Bomber. After retirement he loved to work in his yard and walked daily.
Charles is survived by three daughters: Peggy (O'Neill) Noke, West Virginia; Lyn (O'Neill) Burton, Arizona; and Sallie O'Neill, California; and by six grandchildren, Rick Noke, West Virginia; Chelsea (Burton) Barnwell, California; Christie (Noke) Hadle, Colorado; Michael Noke, Colorado; Matthew Burton, California; and Scott McKivergan, Alabama; and nine great grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents Jess and Julia (Luthasaari) Morlan; a sister, Dorothy Calhoun; his wife Terry; and his beloved daughter, Kim Stoneham.
The Service will be held at Green Hills Chapel on Saturday, August 20, 2011 at 3:00 pm. Burial will follow at Green Hills Memorial Park in Rancho Palos Verdes. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to your favorite charity.
