I am sad to hear he is gone. He was a good, gentle man, always seemed to have a smile on his face.Peace is now with him.

Dear Mary and all of the loving members of the Stonier family,      It is with deep sadness that I learned of the passing of Claude today. On behalf of the entire Altfeld family, Debby, Dailey, Stephanie and Bobby, please accept our deepest sympathies, loving care, kindness and compassion in this immediate time of loss and sorrow.      At this time, I am filled with fond memories of the time and connection of our families. The joyous years of adventure and growth for us all as we lived and grew in Hermosa Beach.      Of course, I cannot forget the opportunity that was provided to me by Chief Stonier when he hired me as first, a Reserve Police Officer in 1976, and then a Regular Police Officer in 1978, for the Hermosa Beach Police Department.      From these humble beginnings, Chief Stonier provided me with the opportunity and chance to show that I had what it took to be a police officer and, more importantly, had the confidance in my ability to stand by me and with me as my law enforcement career progressed with the Hermosa Beach Police Department.      Claude was also a loyal and trusted friend to me as I progressed through the ranks at the Department, providing me with sage advice and wisdom which has continued to serve me today. On more than one occasion, during lunch meetings at the Hermosa Beach Kiwanis Club, Claude would take me aside and whisper in my ear. Thank you Claude for being there.      My mother Rosemary, was also a dear friend of both Claude and Mary, working and playing with the Stonier family until her death in 1981. Rosemary respected and trusted Claude on so many levels, relying on his input, suggestions and advice in work, career and family.      While it is never easy losing a loved one and this time is filled with pain and sadness, please know that you are in our hearts, mind and spirit in this very difficult time.      Claude Stonier will be missed.

Dear Mary and Family,          My brother, Robert(Bob), and I are saddened to hear about the passing of Claude. We had heard the news from our cousin, Stanley Kelton. Bob had worked for Hermosa PD as an officer in the \'70\'s thus working with Claude. Our father, Auten, had worked with you many years ago when he worked with Hermosa as city attorney.        As I remember, Claude was a gentleman and a very good police officer, Lieutenant, detective and Police Chief.  Bob had good memories of Claude while at Hermosa. To Mary, Teri and family:  Steve let us know about Claude and we just wanted you to know that you are all in our prayers.  The Circle of Life may have been fulfilled, but it\'s still hard on those left behind because he\'ll be missed.
