
Beloved Father, Grandfather and Great Grandfather. He peacefully slipped away at home on August 20, 2008 to join his beloved wife of 60 years, whom he had lost in January 2008. Dallas came into this life as the fifth child of John and Cora Lillian Harrison on April 15, 1928 in El Reno, Oklahoma, where his father served as county sheriff. His family relocated to the Harbor Hills area of Harbor City in 1941. He attended Narbonne High school, where he met his beautiful wife, Bonnie Jean Lewellyn. They enjoyed riding his motorcycle so much that they rode it all the way to Tijuana and got married in 1947.
Dallas served his country during World War II as a Merchant Marine. After the war, he worked as a Lather and was a union member. Dallas' real passion was car racing. He competed in the California Circuit in both Jalopy and Modified cars. He could be seen racing on Telecasts by local channel 5, which broadcasted from Western Speedway in Gardena and Ascot Raceway. He was a favorite of Announcer, Dick Lane.
Dallas was an avid bowler and competed in league bowling at the Missile Bowl in Gardena until it closed. He continued at the Gable House as a member of the senior league up until the time of his passing.
Dallas is survived by daughters, Susan (Hershell) Mann, Dallas Jean Ritchie and Terri (Tom) Billhime; Seven Grandchildren, David Ritchie, Kanani (Mann) Bradley, Joshua Mann, Tara (Ritchie) McGuire, Ian Harrison, Thomas and Suzan Billhime; Three sisters, Jimmie Meyer, Hazel Reed, Helen Jo Curtis; and eight Great Grandchildren.
Services will be held at 2:00PM, Thursday, August 28, 2008 at White and Day Colonial Mortuary in Redondo Beach.
