I’ve been friends with Jeff and the Rhinds for close to 40 years now.  A nice bonus to that friendship friendship came in almost 30 years ago when he started dating Ernestina. We spent a fair amount of time together for fun and activities, and speaking of bonuses there was this little guy named Daniel that was along with us.

He was a happy kid who just liked being with us, even if we didn’t have any young friends to bring along. He was just glad we were there and that he could be with us, and he gave us even more excuse to be silly. All to entertain him. His warmth and enthusiasm brought us all up.

It was fun to watch him grow up. He never lost that warmth and still liked to hang out with us, even through those teenage years. There were a couple trips to the River, dinners and barbecues, him running way ahead of me in the Super Bowl 10K, a wedding. All good memories.

Then that kid got a bit older and went off to college. When I saw him after graduation and the new job, he was still that kid but was suddenly talking to me about science (amino acids, protein synthesis for biopharmaceuticals, new technologies). And there were also the stories of his travels and adventures in the new job.
Still, he liked visiting. I’d stop by the Rhind’s and he’d be there. Always made me feel like I was special. I know he made many of us feel that way.

I’ll miss that. Daniel had so much more to give to all of us. Thanks for just being yourself Dan.

Special memories with you in San Francisco cousin. You were such an amazing person and we’re so grateful for the times we shared with you. We will miss you dearly.

One of the most memorable times I had with Daniel was when he needed to practice a report as a young student.  His character and quality touched me very deeply.  He was without a doubt a timeless individual with maturity, sincerity and a golden heart that shined when he spoke.  His gentle quality had this gift of making others feel valued. You lived well, and you loved well; evidenced  by the megawatt smile you always wore, especially  in all of the photos shared. 
You had many adventures, many friends, and you were an accomplished young man with impeccable manners. This world, and especially your Mom's world, will never, ever, be the same without you!  But wherever you are,  please always smile down on all of those who loved & adored you!  
You passed on my birthday, and I will always add another candle to any cake I ever have moving forward  in celebration of your life!

Hermosa Fiesta 
I always reminded Daniel to make sure he told his mom she had a great kid. He always responded with a smirk smile. Such a nice warm respectful kid around our family and a great buddy to all his friends. He is truly loved.

Our condolences to Daniel’s family and friends. We were so blessed to have him part of the Croatia festivities. We all had the time of our lives.  Daniel added to all the fun and great memories.  He always had a fun loving heart and a great sense a humor.  I remember his laughs, very cheeky and a free spirit who truly made that trip so memorable.  It wouldn’t have been the same without him. Such a great kid!! We will forever have Daniel on our hearts and memories. RIP Daniel🙏🏻

My Dearest Cousin Daniel,

My first memory of you is meeting you for the first time when I was a little girl. I remember thinking to myself, "Wow, my cousin is so handsome." I remember your frosted blonde hair and your perfect tan skin. You had a smile that could light up a room. I’m so lucky to have known you and to have shared so many memories with you that I’ll forever cherish. Words cannot express the deep pain and sorrow that I feel at losing someone as precious as you. My sweet, perfect, charismatic, kind, and sincere cousin, you weren’t just a cousin to me, you were like a brother, a gem filled with sweetness and grace. I remember making you take walks with me so we could watch the sunset. I always loved hearing about your life and your adventures. You were such an amazing uncle, friend, son, and cousin. I’m going to miss our talks and FaceTime calls. We always talked about getting old and having our kids grow up together; it breaks my heart that we won’t see it through. Our family will never be the same again. I hope you know how much we love you. I know you found peace in heaven. Please watch over us. Till we meet again.

He was the best uncle I remember when he visit us, Stepan was in love with his golf clubs and golf balls. He was so sweet and generous and couldn’t say no to Stepan so he let him pick one from his set. He would carry him and play fight. They would always talk about cars and how cool they were. He didn’t mind having a conversation with a toddler. I thought it was so sweet.

Love you Danny Boy!! You will be missed and never forgotten!

He and Samantha used to argue and he used to call Samantha a "crier baby".  I loved babysitting them when I had moved home from college.

Every time you visited we cherished the time with you. All of us did. Each of your sisters wanted me to work around their schedule so they wouldn't miss your visit.  I just wish we had more. Love you so much.

Daniel was always the friend, we’d all wish to be, to both Derek and Andra. We always enjoyed having him at our home. He was polite, funny and a great conversationalist.  He was a gentle soul with a beautiful smile.  I’ll always remember whenever Daniel came to visit Derek, a wrestling match would always ensue right at the front door and into the living room. I’d have to call for an immediate timeout, so my furniture wouldn’t get destroyed!  RIP Daniel, we are grateful for all the time we shared together and your memories will live with us forever.

Daniel was a bright and fun loving light in our family during his high school years. Always so polite, self effacing, quick to enjoy a piece of quiet humor.  It's not fair to his family, friends and the world that this beautiful inspiration is gone.  RIP Daniel and grace to his family and close friends.
