Dartis Marie McMackin

Dartis Marie McMackin passed away January 4, 2009 at her home in Lawndale, California at the age of 74 . Born in Leeds , Alabama , Dartis grew up and went to school in Inglewood , CA and resided in the South Bay area most of her life.

Dartis lived a simple life, but was by no means ordinary! She never knew a stranger, because everyone became a friend instantly. Her energetic personality and glowing smile were very contagious. Dartis was always happy! She loved and lived life to the fullest, which made her so special and fun to be around. It was evident that Dartis had a true passion and appreciation for all kinds of music as well, which she passed on to her children. She also loved animals, and always had a pet or two or three. She lived for her yorkie Jazzy (R.I.P.) and chihuahua Mikey. Her caring heart would never allow her to pass a stray or injured creature under any circumstance. Dartis was dearly loved, and will be deeply missed by her family and all of those who had the honor of knowing her.

Dartis is survived by her sister, Fay McGray, and brother, JC Drake. She is also survived by her three children, Vickie Arsi, Byron McMackin, and Jason McMackin, as well as her three grandchildren Lisa, Nicolas, and Martin, and pet chihuahua, Mikey.

Services will be held at Rice Mortuary 5310 Torrance Blvd. Torrance, Ca 90503 on January 31, 2009 at 2:00 PM
