Miss you Grandpa. I will always love you.

I'll never forget the way he always made me feel loved and accepted - more like a father than a brother - and I already miss him, but look to our time together again in eternity.  Oh, how happy we'll be!!

Dave was very kind to me on campus at Bethany. I remember him as compassionate with a great sense of humor.

David was a friend closer than a brother. Even though many miles and oceans separated us for many years, my heart only grew fonder with love, respect, and the memories of his unconditional love towards me.

Dave dedicated his life to the Lord's work, he has finished the race.  My love and prayers to his family.

Our family continues to surround your family in prayer. We sre comforted by the knowldege that David is at peace and that your family is blessed by your faithfulness during this challenging time.

Darlene, we will miss David. And yet wonderful memories of him remain undiminished. Sunday school, canoe trips, LA visits, cassette tapes, babysitting the kids and shared experiences in NZ.  He was a beacon of God's life.  Much love to you and your family.

When I was at Bethany from 1972 to 1975, David was acting as men's dean. My roommate, Greg Waite, and I loved to watch basketball and hockey. But we weren't allowed a TV in our room. One day Greg brought one from home and we started watching games, hiding the TV in the closet during the day. One morning, rising late, we left the TV out. David did a surprise round to inspect rooms and found the TV. He left us a note that went something like this: Who won the game? Guys, get rid of this TV. You will also be happy to know that the kitchen staff will be waiting for you to do dishes for the next 7 days! When we saw David the next day, he just smiled his biggest smile.     David always had wise and useful advice for me. He helped me to grow up.   May God bless his family and his memory.

Darlene, I can't begin to express my feelings when I heard of Dave going on ahead of us to be with Jesus. He meant so much to me during the year I worked for him at Bethany when we first came back from NZ. My marriage was rocky - and although I didn't share that much with him, he had a way of expressing concern and giving words of comfort that meant more than I can ever say. I spoke with him on a phone about 3 years ago while visiting my son out in Calif. I had hoped to be able to visit you both - but well recall it was so good to see you all at a wedding at Bethany a number of years back.       My thoughts and prayers have been with you during the past week since Bev Lang emailed me from NZ.    Praying the comfort only Jesus can give will sustain you and His Spirit will guide you on the many decisions you face in the coming days. Darlene, I am so grateful for the years you were at Bethany while I was a student with Jeremy and Michelle.  I saw so much of Christ in Dave while he was on Student Life.  He was always so gracious and loving toward us, I am changed because of him.  I am full of sadness but also full of wonder as I imagine him with our Lord.  I love your family!

So sorry to hear of Dave's passing.   May the presence of Jesus be very real to each of you and give you His comfort.

You may not know me, but I went to Bethany with Jared and Michelle and Jeremy. I know Dave was a great man, full of life, and just watching him respond to others was a blessing in itself. He showed me grace when I needed it. Our thoughts and prayers are with you.
