
Born December 14, 1923 to Alfred C. & Marvilla R. Goodwin in Long Beach, CA. He graduated from Inglewood High School in 1941. Dee served in the U.S. Army Air Corps during WWII as a 1st Lt. on a B17 flying fortress with the 100th Bomb Group in "Our Gal Sal" flying 35 missions over the European Theater. He was a navigator who earned the Distinguished Flying Cross and the Air Medal with 4 Oak Leaf Clusters.
Dee was preceeded in death by his son, Steven Goodwin, in 1975. He is survived by his loving wife, Sarah Goodwin of 60 years. Also, daughter-in-law Phyllis Goodwin, daughters Cory (Steve) Mellwee and Erin Mantz; six grandchildren - Dawn Goodwin, Fawn Goodwin, Donald (Michelle) Goodwin, Deanne Mellwee, Matthew Mellwee, Frank Mantz and 4 great-grandchildren, Joshua Betancourt, Meghan Ashbaugh, Ellie & Abigail Goodwin. He is also survived by his sister, Barbara Everson and brother, Lyle Goodwin, many nieces & nephews & friends.
Dee loved sports, playing golf, the occasional camping trip and especially being with his family & friends. We will miss him always.
There will be a visitation on Wednesday, September 28, 2005 at Rice Mortuary in Torrance, CA. from 7:00 to 9:00 pm. The services are on Thursday, September 29, 2005 at Grace Chapel, Inglewood Park Cemetery at 1:00 pm
