

Eileen O’Brien passed away on September 1, 2015 after a brief illness. Born in Buffalo, NY on July 6, 1929, Eileen served in the Naval Reserve from 1948 to 1952. She moved to Southern California (Harbor Gateway) on May 9, 1954 after accepting Bob’s marriage proposal. A devout Catholic who prayed the rosary daily, Eileen was an auxiliary member of Nativity’s Legion of Mary who enjoyed their Friday Fish Frys. A lifelong baseball fan, Eileen was thrilled when the Dodgers followed her west and Gene Autry acquired the Angels. The oldest of William and Cecilia’s three daughters, Eileen was preceded in death by her husband Bob and sister Kathleen (late Spencer) Ferris. She is survived by her daughter Brigid, sister Patricia (late Raymond) Castine, 9 nieces and nephews as well as friends and neighbors who dearly loved her. Special thanks to Eileen’s caregivers Carmen Romero and Tina McLaurin for making her last four years easier and more exciting than she ever imagined. Visitation will be Tuesday, September 8, 2015 from 5 to 9 pm with Rosary at 7 pm at Halverson, Stone & Myers Mortuary, 1223 Cravens Ave, Torrance, CA. Funeral Mass will be Wednesday, September 9, 2015 at 10 am at Nativity Catholic Church, 1447 Engracia Ave, Torrance, CA with burial to follow at Green Hills Cemetery in Rancho Palos Verdes. In lieu of flowers, donations made be made to Heart of the Nation, PO Box 14428, Milwaukee, WI 53214-9982.
