Gingerich, Eldon Ray, a 57 year resident of Redondo Beach , passed away peacefully after a long illness in a Torrance hospital on Monday, January 5, 2004.. Born on October 20, 1921 in Kalona, Iowa he was 82. Eldon was a member of the 101st Airborne Division during WWII with service at Normandy, Holland and the Battle of the Bulge. He was also a master modeler of airplanes. Mr. Gingerich was preceded in death by a son, Gregory (KIA Vietnam). Eldon is survived by wife, Lettie Brooks Gingerich; son, Gary (Peggy) Gingerich of Lawndale; brothers, Clayton (Thelma) Gingerich of Chula Vista and Wayne (Helen) Gingerich of Long Beach; grandson, Matthew (Sara) Gingerich of Torrance; grandaughter, Nicole Gingerich of Lawndale and sister-in-law, Verla Gingerich of Iowa. Services will be held on Saturday, January 10th at 1:30 PM at the Pacific Crest Cemetery Chapel in Redondo Beach. Burial will follow at the cemetery.
