Felicita Rosa Traverso, age 99 years of Torrance, California, passed away on October 11, 2026. She was born on April 18, 1927 in Trinidad to the late Octavia and Pablo Cardinal and wife of the late Ellis George Traverso.
Felicita will be remembered for her loving devotion to her family. She is survived by her children; grandchildren and great, great grandchildren. Being an only child she was blessed with eight children.
Felicita loved singing love songs and dancing to her favorite calypso. She even ended her phone conversations with a love song. She ran the household with the precision of a CEO. Nothing was impossible for she made everything possible.
Her daughters wore dresses made by the local seamstress and her sons clothing made by the local taylor.
She was also quite the chef. She spent hours in the kitchen preparing meals for her family, making desserts on Saturday for our large traditional Sunday meal and made 9 loafs of bread or more each week which quickly disappeared once it hit the dining room table.
Christmas was filled with decorations, presents, family members singing parang and Christmas songs that lasted the entire season.
In the summer Felicita dedicated her time to caring for her grandchildren. They were out all day but she found time to prepare meals for them when they returned. One of her biggest joy was photographing her grandchildren. It gave her something to enjoy when they were not around her.
Felicita enjoyed long lasting friendships. She outlived most of her friends but one. Even towards the end her friend would check on her. A true definition of a life long friendship.
Wherever she went she was loved. Her kind nature and caring ways attracted those who got close to her.
What we can learn from her will make our world a much better place.
