Frances Cochanides Economides was a native of Erie, PA. She was a graduate of Edinboro University and of Columbia University. She served her country with the American Red Cross in the Southwest Pacific 1943 to 1945. Frances taught at Belmont High School for two and a half years, then 31 years as Professor of Speech at Los Angeles Valley College.
The widow of James Economides, Lt. Det. LAPD, she is survived by her loving family: sister, Kathryn (Peter, deceased) Stumpus; and her two nieces and their families: Joelle, Jim, Peter, Dean and Phoibe Bardos; and Cathy, Louis, David, and Kathryn Constantine.
A prayer service will be held on Monday, August 22, 2011 at 11am at Rice Mortuary in Torrance. In lieu of flowers, Memorial donations may be made to St. Katherine Greek Orthodox Church, 722 Knob Hill, Redondo Beach, CA 90277 or to Midnight Mission, 396 S.
