Frances Menechios Yockey was born in Boston, Massachusetts in 1921 to Catherine and Thomas Menechios. She passed away after a brief illness on Wednesday, February 17, 2010. She worked for Westmoreland Silver for several years until she and her family moved to Los Angeles in 1952, settling in Westchester.
She was an executive secretary at TRW for many years, but never lost her Boston accent or her love of the Red Sox. In 1970, she married Dick Yockey. They traveled extensively.
She loved gardening and orchids. She loved to swim, and she loved anything chocolate. She loved holidays and sent cards and gifts for almost every occasion.
She was preceded in death by her husband Dick Yockey, sister Kali, and sister-in-law, Tessie. She is survived by her brother Charles, nieces Katherine (Don) and Stacy, and her grandnieces. She is also survived by three stepchildren (Gail, Michael and Scott) and their children.
Funeral services will be held at St. Katherine's on Tuesday, Februrary 23 at 11:00 a.m. A viewing will be held Monday at White & Day Colonial Mortuary from 4 to 5 p.m., with Trisaigion services beginning at 5:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Katherine's Greek Orthodox Church, 722 Knob Hill Ave., Redondo Beach, CA 90277. May her memory be eternal.
