Our sweet precious daughter passed away peacefully at Miller Children’s Hospital, Long Beach. Doctors and staff did all they could but Hannahs 10-year battle with KSS, a rare mitochondrial disease, took the final toll.
We could say, Hannah lived two lives. The first half was as a normal everyday little girl. She had aspirations and many dreams. She enjoyed hanging out with friends, sleepovers, birthday parties, going to the mall and more. She had talked about going to college and hoped that someday she would get married and have her own children.
At 10 years old, after being diagnosed, life dramatically changed. With time, Hannah lost her ability to see, to walk, and to even hear without a medical device. She suffered from diabetes and even needed a pacemaker. Several surgeries never broke her sweet spirit. Never once did she say "why me”. Instead, Hannah found comfort in the smallest of things. She loved her spicy food, her olives, and especially salads. She loved the dining experience. Hannah loved her cat. She loved the warm water. Every week, Hannah looked forward to the YMCA. Our vacations to the tropics. Even the excursions to Starbucks, gave Hannah joy. Her everyday smile was infectious.
Hannah, you taught us so much. We will always miss you. May your memory never fade and God protect you. You are in our hearts forever.
Till we meet again.
Mom and Dad.
