
Harold Erlandsen born and raised in Zahl, North Dakota on August 22, 1918. He died February 16, 2007 in Torrance, CA at 88 years old. Graduate of Zahl High School in 1937. Harold enlisted in the Navy 1942. He received several WWII combat medals. While in the Navy he met Lucy Vode in LA. The married in September 1948. At that time, they moved to Portland, Oregon and he enjoyed being a truck driver. In 1952, he moved Lucy and his two children, David and Mary, to Torrance, CA. They had five more children Michael, Catherine, Rita, Theresa and John. During those years Harold was active in the Navy Reserve, church functions, Boy Scouts, and his children's countless activities. He worked at Mattel Toy Co. and then for the City of Torrance as a mechanic from which he retired in 1980. During his retirement, he and Lucy traveled across the US visiting family, friends and places they dreamed of exploring. The also lived in Hawaii for a couple of years and even though Harold was retired, he took on another mechanic position there. When they came back to "the main land" they enjoyed their free time with their grandkids. He is survived by his wife Lucy Erlandsen, sister Signe Grev, sister-in-law Ruth Erlandsen, three sons, four daughters, thirteen grandchildren, and two great grandsons survive Harold.
A gathering of family and friends will be held at Rice Mortuary on Thursday, February 22, 2007 from 4:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. with a Vigil service at 7:15 P.M. The funeral Mass will be held at St. Catherine Laboure church on Friday, February 23, 2007 at 10:00 A.M.
