HUGHES, HELEN ALENE of Rancho Palos Verdes , passed away on Saturday, September 7, 2002 in Rancho Palos Verdes. She was born April 3, 1916 in Chicago, Illinois. Alene worked in the aerospace industry for 40 years, retiring in 1986. She had lived in the South Bay since 1932 and graduated from Redondo Union High School in 1936. Survivors include her loving son Melvin (Doris) Hughes of Rancho Palos Verdes and grandchildren, Denise A. Hughes of San Diego and Mark (Michelle) Hughes of Sylmar and her great grandson, Ian Zachary Hughes, also of Sylmar. Services will be conducted at the graveside at Green Hills Memorial Park in Rancho Palos Verdes on Thursday, Sept. 12, 2002 at 1:00 PM. En lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Hospice Center, Torrance Memorial Hospital.
