Helen Jean Resong

Helen was born June 19, 1938 to Charlotte (Stacy) and John Cassinelli and passed away on July 23, 2010 at home with her husband at her side. Helen was a 1956 graduate of Redondo Union High School in Redondo Beach and received an Associate of Arts degree in Library Science from El Camino College and also attended USC and UCLA. She lived in and around the South Bay since childhood and married Joseph in 1960. She was a member of St. James Parish from 1960 on. Her children, Joseph and Michael, attended St. James School. She worked at the Redondo Beach Library for many years and drove the bookmobile to area schools including St. James. She also worked for the Federal Aviation Administration and ran operations for the Amarna Co. She gave up her active career to care for her parents until their passing. She was actively involved in Catholic Daughters until her illness became too severe. She enjoyed genealogy, photography and most especially spending time with her grandchildren. She is survived by her husband of 50 years, Joseph, her two boys, Joseph (Cynthia) and Michael (Celene), and her 5 beautiful grandchildren, Eric, Paul, Juliana, Jessica, and Nathanael. Rosary Recitation will be on Monday, July 26, 2010 at 7:00 PM at St. James Church in Redondo Beach. Celebration of Mass of Christian Burial will be the next morning, Tuesday, July 27, 2010 at 10 AM also at St. James Catholic Church, located at 415 Vincent St., Redondo Beach. Internment will be at Green Hills Memorial Park in Rancho Palos Verdes followed by a reception at Rice Mortuary in Torrance from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM. Helen was a very kind, gentle and generous person who will be missed by all. In lieu of flowers, we ask that donations be made to the charity of your choice in Helen's name.
