

Hisao Homma, 79, died peacefully on June 27, 2016, due to multiple system atrophy (MSA) and its complications. He was born in Los Angeles, CA on December 24, 1936, to the late Kyushiro and Mutsu Wada Homma. His childhood was interrupted when his family was forced to evacuate to Santa Anita Assembly Center, then to Amache Internment Camp in Granada, CO. After WWII (and his father’s death in Amache), the family relocated to Seattle, WA, with his grandparents, Rev. Masahiko and Kuni Wada. Hisao joined the United States Marine Corp after graduating from Garfield High School in Seattle. After the USMC, he worked for Japan Air Lines for 33 years until his retirement in 1993. He relocated his family to Torrance, CA, in 1963 when JAL Cargo moved from Seattle to Los Angeles. Hisao loved fishing with his friends and his sons.
Hisao is survived by his wife of 55 years, Emilie; daughter Marilyn Mason (John), sons Mitch (Stephanie Stone), Doug, and Stuart (Mel); grandchildren: Kumiko, Heather, Shannon, Ryan; sister Kumiko Hasegawa (Dr. Fred), and brother Kunio.
A memorial service will be held on Friday, July 22 at 11:00AM at Gardena Valley Baptist Church, 1630 W 158th St, Gardena, CA, followed by a light lunch at the church and an interment service at 2:30PM at Westminster Memorial Park, Westminster, CA.
