On March 6, 2019, Isabelita Shipp, loving mother, grandmother, and sister passed away at home after a long battle with cancer at the age of 73. God truly made his presence known as she passed peacefully on Ash Wednesday during her Anointing of the Sick Sacrament.
Lita, as she was known, was born June 9, 1945 in Manila, Philippines, to Jaime and Emma Leuterio. She and her sisters were raised by her mother Emma after her father’s untimely passing during WWII. Moving to the States in 1969, she spent her life in Southern California. She raised her son Lewis Hector as a single mother and worked primarily with Delta Airlines where she committed her service for over 40 yrs.
Lita loved music, friends, family, and during her golden years, going to casinos. She was well known for being kind, helpful and most of all her strong will. She valued hard work. Being the youngest of four sisters, she ensured her mother and sisters joined her in the United States and as a single mother provided for her family and secured their future. She remained optimistic throughout her 10 year fight with cancer until she could fight no more.
Lita was preceded in death by her husband Keith Shipp. She is survived by her son Lewis Hector Baluyot, two grandchildren, Matthew and Isabella Baluyot, her sisters, Columbina Osit, Erlinda Fielden, Noemi Franciso, and three nephews and one niece.
Though she will be truly missed, we rejoice for she is now in the loving care of our Lord.
