Youngest of nine siblings, orphaned at birth, James Edwards, a native of Southern California, was a veteran of three wars.
He served in the US Navy during WWII, in the US Army during the Korean War and in the US Air Force during the Vietnam War, where he met his beloved wife of 54 years, Nghi Thi Tran Edwards.
He adopted his wife’s son from a former marriage, John Edwards, who became a medical doctor before an untimely automobile accident took John’s life.
As a civilian, James worked for Western Airlines and later Delta Airlines as an aircraft mechanic. James also served for 20 years as a member of the “Hope in Action” team at Hope Chapel Church in Redondo Beach California.
He is survived by his wife and also his daughter, Mae Edwards, a film and television editor and music composer, currently residing in Sacramento, California.
James Edwards’ funeral will be held at Pacific Crest Cemetery (Redondo Beach California) in a closed ceremony of family members only, due to COVID-19 restrictions.
A memorial in honor of James Edwards’ life, complete with military honors, will be celebrated when COVID-19 restrictions are lifted.
