Jessie Rios Lugo, 80, passed away peacefully on September 24, 2026, at Little Company of Mary Hospital in Torrance, California. Born on March 11, 1946, Jessie was a lifelong Southern California resident. She was born and raised in Torrance, the community she always called home, and later spent the last 10 years of her life living in San Jacinto, California.
Jessie was a deeply private person who was beloved by the people fortunate enough to know her. She spent much of her life caring for her eldest son, Anthony “Tony” Lugo, and remained by his side until she became ill. Throughout his adult life, Jessie and Tony shared a special tradition of going to the casinos together, creating memories they would carry with them throughout the years.
Jessie was preceded in death by her husband, Anthony Lugo; her parents, Ysidro and Catarina Flores; her brother, Augie Flores; and her longtime partner, Johnny Garza.
She is survived by her sons, Tony Lugo and Michael Lopez and his wife, Connie; her grandchildren, Michael Becker Lopez and his husband, Jake, Tristen Lopez, and Emily Lopez; her brothers, Essie Flores and his wife, Linda, and Tony Flores and his wife, Rosanna; and many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends who loved her dearly.
Jessie may have lived a private life, but the love she gave to her family was deeply felt. She will be remembered for the quiet ways she cared for those she loved, her devotion to her family, and the lasting memories she created with them.
A memorial service celebrating Jessie’s life will be held on Sunday, November 8, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. at Lighthouse Memorials & Receptions in Torrance. A reception will immediately follow from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.
