It is with great sorrow we announce the passing of our beloved brother, uncle, cousin, friend, and preacher Jim Glen Buhrman (92). Jim’s life was full of faith, service, and devotion to others before passing on May 2, 2026.
Born April 23rd, 1934, in Muleshoe, Texas, to Bessie and Donald Buhrman, Jim spent his early childhood living on the Buhrman Family Farm. He attended school in Muleshoe before his family, which now included his younger brother, Donnie, moved to California in 1944, shortly before the birth of his sister, Judy. Jim then attended Washington School, Leuzinger High School (class of 1952), and El Camino College, graduating in 1955. In 1956, he proudly became a deputy sheriff with the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department.
His path was interrupted when he was drafted into the United States Army. Jim entered the Army in December 1956 in Fort Ord, CA, and later attended Military Police training at Fort Gordon, GA, graduating at the age of 23, before serving overseas in Korea.
After honorably serving his country, Jim resumed his career with the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department, faithfully serving his community until his retirement in 1974. He returned to school to study Hebrew and Theology, eventually earning both his Bachelor’s degree and Master’s degree in from the California Graduate School of Theology. In 1979, he began to devoutly serve as the preacher for the Lynwood Church of Christ for more than fifty years, touching countless lives through his teaching, compassion, and unwavering faith.
Jim is preceded in death by his parents, Donald and Bessie, and his sister, Judy. He is survived by his brother Donald (preceded by Norma), his nephew Kevin Buhrman (Shelly), his nieces Kimberly Waite (Randy), Lisa Boothe, and Kathy Yakubik (Jeff), his grand-nieces and grand-nephews, Rachael Wade (Matt) and Derek Waite, Logann and Keelynn Boothe, and Zack and Cooper Yakubik, and many more family and friends who loved him dearly.
Jim will be remembered for his strength, faith, and quiet wisdom. His legacy of service–to his country, his community, his church, and his family–will continue to live on in all who knew and loved him. We will miss Jim deeply, but we find peace knowing he is with the Lord he served so loyally.
