Joe experienced the loss of his parents at a young age and would be raised by his grandparents.
Joe served in the United States Armed Forces under the Military Force of the Army. After being honorably discharged from the Army in November of 1957, Joe eventually settled in San Bernardino at Los Angeles County. There, he began a family with Katschan Sims. Although they eventually divorced, they were proud parents of four beautiful daughters.
Nearly eight years after they met, Joe married his second wife, Florine Oliver in 1976. They were the proud parents of Tonya Boyd, Judy Oliver, Jerry Oliver, Linda Oliver, and Larry Lewellyn.
Anyone who knew Joe, knew that his favorite things to do included reading the Bible, listening to music, doing hair and playing dominoes. These great loves eventually led Joe to become a Minister, a Song Writer, a Cosmetologist and a Master domino player. One of Joe's greatest honors was receiving acknowledgement from Los Angeles Mayor Tom Bradley and Game Show Host Monty Hall for writing the song "Monty Hall" after he and Florine won a two week vacation to Niagra Falls and Bermuda when he appeared as "Baby Huey" on the Monty Hall Game Show.
We know that Joe has found peace as he rests in the arms of the Lord.
We love you Daddy.
