
John was a Mechanic and a Trucker most of his life before retiring. He was a lifelong resident of Gardena and the South Bay, but he enjoyed spending most of his last years in Mexico with his love Celia. He loved listening and dancing to Ranchera Music. He was well known for his delicious Menudo.
John is survived by his love Celia and his five children, Fred of Torrance, Ca; Sally (Mike) Lopez of Whittier, CA, George (Rosie) of Redondo Beach, CA, Leonard of Gardena, CA and John Jr. (Carolyn) of Murrieta, CA; 12 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren and two sisters, Mary (Gogie) Newton of Arizona and Sabrina (Queta) Rivera of Wilmington, CA; and many nieces and nephews, also many loving friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two sons, Artie and Alfonzo; two sisters Paulina (Chicken) Villanueva and Frances (Nigra) Quesada; and brothers, Pete (Pache) and Tony (Indio) Magana.
Services will be held at Lighthouse Memorials and Receptions – McMillan Center in Gardena on Sunday, October 27th. Viewing: 11:00 am – 2:45 pm, Mass Service: 3:00 pm – 4:00 pm, Reception: 4:00 pm – 6:00 pm.
A private interment will be held at a later date.
