

Jose, nicknamed “Boy or Joe” Daroya was born on May 24, 1939 in Manila, Philippines to Victorino C. Daroya and Dolores Liwanag Daroya. He graduated from the University of the Philippines, Bachelor of Science in Business Administration – Class of 1961. He was a member of the University of the Philippines Business Guild, Junior Philippine Institute of Accountants, “Y” Club and Brother Auditor – Alpha Phi Omega Fraternity (1959-1960), Brother Herald – Alpha Phi Omega Fraternity (1958-1959). He was also an official delegate to represent the Greater Washington Alpha Phi Omega (GWAPO), Charter #175.
Joe received his license from the Philippines Professional Regulation Commission as a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) in Sept. 1963 and joined the Daroya family accounting firm established by his father, Victorino C. Daroya in Dagupan City, Philippines. After receiving his accreditation from UCLA, he was awarded the certificate to practice as a Certified Public Accountant from the California State Board of Accountancy in July 1983. In the same year, the accounting office of Jose L. Daroya, CPA, A PC in Los Angeles, CA was established. Joe’s dedication to his business through the years had built long and lasting relationships with his clients who became his extended family. To carry on the family legacy of accounting services, JLDaroya Associates will continue to serve current and prospective clients with the same top notch service and support.
Joe is survived by his six children from his first marriage with Milagros Marquez Maramba - Jerome Daroya (Gemma Justiniano Daroya), Melody Araya, Joselito Daroya (Bonnie Daroya), Minnie Ramirez (Nestor Ramirez), Mary Lushina (Chris Lushina), Connie Walker and three children from his second marriage with Laura Aguilar - Laurence Daroya (Rosemarie Daroya), Josela Daroya and L J Dean Daroya.
In addition to 20 grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren, many nieces/nephews, he is also survived by his sister, Anita Daroya Peralta and half siblings, Lilia Fortin, Leticia Belisario, Cecilia Garcia and Ernesto Daroya. He was also predeceased by his parents and three brothers, Dr. Romeo A. Ferrer, Ricardo Daroya and Jovencio Daroya and half sister, Erlinda Escobilia and half brother, Roberto Daroya.
A private viewing will be held at the Lighthouse Memorial, White and Day Center located at 901 Torrance Blvd., Redondo Beach CA on August 30, 2020 from 3:00 pm – 5:00 pm. Due to COVID-19 restrictions, we are only allowed a limited amount of guests in the facility. We will provide a link to make reservations for available time slots for the viewing. For those unable to attend, we will provide a live stream of the Celebration of Life private service to be held on Monday, August 31, 2020 at 10:00 am PST (link to follow).
