Julie Ann Wichmann Huerta

It is with profound sadness and deep love that the daughters of Julie Ann Wichmann Huerta announce her peaceful passing on June 4, 2026, at the age of 67. Born in Sylmar, California on June 19, 1958, she built a life defined by duty, selflessness, and an unwavering commitment to both her family and her community.

Julie spent over 30 years at the Port of Los Angeles in the Harbor Department, where she served in multiple divisions including Management Services, Construction Management, Engineering, the Executive Office, and the Commission Office. More recently, Julie served as the President of the Board of Directors of the YWCA of the Harbor Area & South Bay in San Pedro. Throughout her life, Julie was passionate about civic duty. She devoted her time and leadership to many causes and her acts of service and advocacy improved the lives of many and inspired everyone around her to get involved.

Above all, Julie was a dedicated mother, to humans and dogs alike. She instilled in her daughters the core values of empathy, integrity, and the importance of “always do[ing] the right thing.” Her home was a welcoming sanctuary, not only for her family but for countless others who felt her nurturing spirit and endless support.

She is survived by her daughters, Gayle (Danny) and Kylie (Conrad), her two granddaughters, Kennedie and Devyn, her siblings, Tommy, Barbie and Vivian. Most notably, Julie is survived by her beloved pups, Timothy and Douglas, who were by her side until the end. Julie was preceded in death by her husband, Ken.

A memorial service will be held on Friday, July 24th at 9:30 am at St. Lawrence Martyr Catholic Church, located at 1940 S Prospect Ave, Redondo Beach, CA 90277. Family and friends are invited to gather, share memories, and honor her legacy of love and service.

In lieu of flowers, and to continue her spirit of giving, her daughters kindly request that memorial donations be made to YWCA of the Harbor Area & South Bay.
