Greenhalgh, Kent Leon, a 50 year resident of Torrance, passed away on Saturday, June 25, 2011 in Long Beach. Born in Hastings, NE, Kent was 61 years young when he passed. Please help us in celebrating the life of our amazing father.
Our dad, to know him was to love him; he was kind and generous to everyone he met. He had the biggest smile and laugh that touched so many lives. Everyone who ever had the honor to know him will always remember that laugh. He loved to swim and lay in the beautiful sunlight of southern California. Many will remember him and many more will hear the beautiful stories about him, told by those who knew him. No one will forget those beautiful blue eyes.
Kent is survived by son, Keith Greenhalgh of Anchorage, AK; daughter, Krista Palmer, of Dayton, NV; step-daughter, Tind Deboard of Layton, Utah; brother Wayne; sisters Kathy and Patty; three grandchildren, Holden, Christian & Kaylee; several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by parents Earl and Virginia Greenhalgh, brother Steve and wives Barbara and Joanie.
Holden chose this poem for his Grandfather
A Light is Gone
A light is from our household gone,
A voice we loved is stilled.
A place is vacant in our home
Which never can be filled.
We have to mourn the loss of one
We did our best to save.
Beloved on earth, regretted still,
Remembered in the grave.
'Twas hard to part with one do dear,
We little thought the time was near
Farewell, dear one, your life is past,
Our love for you till the end will last.
This was sent to us and we wanted to share with everyone.
I am not gone
I remain here beside you
Just in a different form
Look for me in your heart
And there you will find me
...in our love which forever lives on
In those moments when you feel alone
Look for me in your thoughts
And there you will find me
in sweet memories that burn strong
Every time a tear
Forms in your beautiful eyes
Look up to the heavens
And there you will see me
Smiling down from God's glorious skies
We will have a private family Memorial of Life. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The Wells House Hospice Foundation: 245 Cherry Ave, Long Beach, CA 90802 in Kent's name.
