Lana was such a wonderful, special woman.
She was a light of joy & laughter. She could always manage to take a difficult situation, see the humor in it, and make it funny. There were so many times where I saw her with what could be a very challenging, frustrating problem. And she would summarize it as something like, "when I push the button, I get no, but I'm supposed to get yes... I push the button and get no, but supposed to get yes. She would repeat it a few more times and we would laugh. And then of course, she would go figure out the problem, fix it... and get the yes.
Lana was incredibly smart and talented. She was also fast and on the move. There were innumerable times where she would start to explain things at such speed and detail that I couldn't keep up. We would laugh as I had to ask her to slow down and break things down to my level.
One of my favorite memories is when and how she told me about dating Wendell. One day, out of nowhere, she asked me about how I make a pizza, something about the best time to put vegetables on the pizza. Apparently, there was some sort of debate going on with her and someone else, and she wanted another opinion. This in and of its self was a typical funny conversation with Lana about the myriad of ways people could make pizzas. She then started to open up about the fact that she had started to date Wendell... and it was with him where the debate started. This was the first of many conversations about Wendell throughout the years. It was wonderful to hear about the joy and happiness they brought into each others lives, and to know that the two of them found love and got to share as much of their lives together as they did.
Remembering those kinds of experiences with Lana bring a huge smile to my heart. Thank you Lana for sharing as much of your life with us as you did.
Lana will be missed by so many people.

My deepest condolences to Lana's extended family. I first met Lana in the context of Employee Involvement Team meetings, where Sim Team members or experts from other Departments gave presentations about their areas of expertise. She wasn't shy about speaking her mind on whatever topic was under discussion. She had a gift for explaining complex concepts using simple analogies, such as describing the impact of heavy network traffic as "the YouTube Effect". In social settings, such as Team lunches and office parties, she would regale us with stories of growing up on a farm, anecdotes about misadventures in everyday life, and war stories from various assignments she's worked on in the past. She was a Team player, and we could count on her to support the Team any way she could. Her technical expertise, positive attitude, and humor will be missed.

Lana was fun to work with. She always answered my (regardless its serious) questions with accuracy and a twist of cockiness. I definitely will miss her expertise and pleasant unique personality.

Lana is not only smart, but she has the people skill to make sure we can work together as a group, to make sure we accomplish the final goal successfully - the company goal! She is such a great asset to the company and truly will be missed. Rest In Peace Lana!

Everyone knows just how talented and smart Lana was, but she was also such a wonderful friend, colleague, and human being. I first had the pleasure of knowing Lana in 2008 when her group joined the team I was leading at the time. Immediately, I knew there was something special about her, and I felt the need to engage more with her on the various projects the team took on. She was someone who we could always count on to deliver on her commitments.  More recently, I was looking forward to having her join my new team to work on new, cutting-edge technology programs. Despite not being fully cleared yet (was in the final phase of the clearance process), in late Feb, we were able to share just a little bit about what she would work . During that presentation, I saw her eyes light up; I know she was excited about the work and the team she was going to join. I'm saddened by the fact that she will not be here with us. We miss her, and I relay my sincerest condolences to her family and friends. She will always be remembered.

My thoughts and prayers are with all of Lana's family and friends.   My heart breaks for you all. Lana was such a beautiful person inside and out. We may have lost touch after my wedding but I thought of her often throughout the years.

I first met Lana in 2002 at Boeing as I was her new UNIX System Admin, and she was part of my user community. We did not hit it off, by and large. As I was fumbling through my new position, she was unimpressed. As time went on, things got better (I knew what I was doing and she gave me grace) and I really grew to respect her. Up until I retired in 2022, I would communicate with her daily, on computer admin matters and filtered through some of her requests that I really did not understand, but did the best I could to address. I always gave her priority as I knew what she was doing was totally important. One thing for certain: she was the absolute brains of the place. Most all of the others in the area she worked with left for whatever reason over the years, but she was a constant. I looked forward to working with her as she was always pleasant and funny. She would tell me about her cats too.

My sincere condolences to her family, she will be very missed.

Lana was one of the first people I met when I started my first job out of college back in 2013. We were the only two people sitting in the basement during some testing on our respective projects and we got to chatting during our downtime. 

A few years later I had the privilege to work more closely with her. I enjoyed learning from her and deeply appreciated the time she took to teach me super complicated technical things . But also I loved when we got to talking about our upcoming vacations and things like that outside of work. 

We lost touch when I moved jobs but I will always look back fondly on the time we worked together. May memories of her bring comfort to loved ones, friends, family, and colleagues. She is missed.

My condolences to the family. Lana was one of the most capable people I've ever worked with; I considered her a mentor in many ways and learned so much working with her. She had a technical command over her work and could explain any concept and make you laugh throughout the process. Her patience and willingness to help were unmatched. She made an impact that will not soon be forgotten. I know I and many I work with will miss her greatly.

My deepest condolences to the family. I worked with Lana for a very long time. These last few years, she's been a part of my daily routine. Almost every day Lana would stop by my office to chat about nothing and everything. She was always there for a good laugh or just plain chitchat. I will miss her very very much. The place seems empty without her.

I was so sorry to hear about Lana's passing. As co-workers situated in different cities we emailed or IM'd more often than we met in person, but Lana's incredible intelligence and knowledge was always evident in our interactions. She had the most awesome way of expressing herself and communicating ideas, and held little back in our technical discussions. She was the acknowledged expert in her field and I learned a lot with each conversation. I will miss those conversations deeply. The company does not yet know what a resource has been lost. I think of Lana every time I put a braid in the front section of my hair that hangs down the back (which shows you the timeframe I most saw her in person).
