
In loving memory of Larry Allan Pettit (12/01/52- 10/11/08). Larry was born in Los Angeles to Shirley Fawber and Harvey Pettit in Dec of 1952. Larry is survived by his mom Shirley Fawber; his two sisters Cheryl Ross and Nancy Algie; his son Jason and daughter Michelle; and 5 grandchildren, Kalli, Kody, Kyle, AJ, and Cameron. He graduated from Pleasant Valley HS in Chico, Ca and hired on at The Aerospace Corporation as a Machinist in Facilities in 1972. He was promoted to Sr. Research Assist in the Science Application Lab in 2002 where he completed 27 years of loyal service. He had a passion for racing and competed in Funny Car, Fuel Altered, and Front Engine dragster classes. He won the 1999 A-Fuel championship, the 2002 AA/FA championship in the Pro Nitro Series, and then won the 2005 Goodguys Funnycar Championship enroute to being the first official Nostalgia Funnycar 5 second run at 5.927 seconds/245.17 mph, which was a record that stood for about a year. He loved his family, his friends, his doggies (Buddy & Missy), and racing. He will be remembered and missed by his family and his many friends at Aerospace and within the racing community.
