May 20, 1961 - January 9, 2021
Doctor, father, husband, and longtime Manhattan Beach resident, Lawrence Moy passed away suddenly on January 9th. The well-known dermatologist is known widely for his will to help, heal, and befriend those around him.
Although lost too soon, Lawrence, who went by, Larry, achieved a great amount more than his solo dermatology practice in the heart of Manhattan Beach for 29 years. He pioneered multiple scientific investigations in the medical field, taught medical students as a mentor, was featured in many magazines and media for his own skincare formulations and lead the Advanced Aesthetics and Cosmetics Dermatology Conference (AACD) for many years. His dedication to saving lives and helping others was his most prominent trait.
Many who met Dr. Moy understood how much he valued knowledge and he became known as the man who knew a bit of everything. Not only was he a man of everything medical, but he was also a man of faith. He was very dedicated to the catholic religion and gave passionate talks at local rosary meetings.
Dr. Moy was born in 1961 and raised in Palos Verdes, California. He graduated with his M.D. at the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA). He met his wife, Lina, at UCLA and moved to the South Bay shortly after marriage. His ongoing business ventures lead him to many heartfelt friendships that he shared greatly with his family. His goofy jokes, sarcastic banter, and deep care will be with them always and live on.
As a man who had little free time, he found valuable time for his love of films, photography, hiking, cooking, and walks down to the beach. Not a walk would go by without him running into someone who wanted to stop him to say hello. He shared these hobbies in common with his family and friends who loved to participate with him and enjoy together.
Lawrence is survived by his wife Lina, his three children, Stephanie, Jaclyn, and Nick and his beloved dog Sassy, as well as his mother, sister, and brother.
