She was born to Leon and Ester Gellada in Iloilo, Philippines on February 4, 1941. Ester was a pharmacist who owned her own Pharmacy, and Leon was a lawyer with his own successful practice. They set high standards for Lene and, in true Lene style, she chased her dreams and moved to the United States where she was accepted at UCLA and majored in nutrition for her post-graduate studies. She graduated and became a dietitian, and later moved on to become an executive assistant at a tech company. But Lene’s first priority has always been her family.
She loved spending time cooking delicious meals for her family and friends. Anyone who has ever been to any of her parties can agree she made the best lumpia and pancit, just a couple of her signature dishes. Always the impeccable hostess, she made sure everyone had enough to eat and then some. The more the merrier was Lene’s way of life which always included welcoming people into her home. She loved adventure and travel especially trips to Las Vegas. To know her was to love her. Although she seemed exteriorly to be a woman of few words, she was mighty in spirit. Being the only sister of four brothers was the foundation for Lene’s composure and spunk. She could say a thousand things with a glance of an eye, and her giggle was gold and her kindness was endless.
Lene was preceded in death by her husband, Scott Lloyd. Lene is survived by her daughter Kathleen Lloyd; daughter Angelina and Chris Eidem; son Mike and Nicole Lloyd; granddaughter Cassandra; granddaughter Skylar; brother Angelo Gellada; and her beloved pets Jack, Stella and Taylor.
Lene will be deeply missed and will always be in our hearts.
