Marie Beatrice Coelho was born on August 18, 1931 in St. Michael, Azores. She was the 6th child of seven children of Louis and Virginia Coelho. Her family moved to the United States during the Second World War, first living in Seekonk, Massachusetts before moving to Providence, Rhode Island. Marie attended Cleary School in Providence, Rhode Island. She later went to work at Arden's Jewelry in the payroll department where she met her future husband, Alfred Mariorenzi. Alfred and Marie married at St James Church in West Warwick, Rhode Island on November 3,1956. They soon moved out to California in 1957 to join Alfred's brother Dominic Mariorenzi to start a new life in sunny California. Alfred and Marie settled in the South Bay with Marie having her first of eight children, Robert Mariorenzi. In a short period of time they were able to purchase their first home in Orange County, California. They later moved back to the South Bay to lessen the work commute as Alfred took a job working for MGM Studios in Culver City, California.
Marie was a classy, elegant and beautiful woman. She was an amazing wife, great friend to many and mother of eight wonderful children. Her husband Alfred attributes their successful household to Marie's many talents. Marie was truly the heart of the Mariorenzi home. For many years the Mariorenzi home was the place of big parties for friends and family. Marie was truly an extraordinary cook for her family and would often spend days preparing large banquets of gourmet food and desserts for all to enjoy. She would often design and sew matching outfits for herself and her daughters. Marie was also known for her style and fashionable outfits, her artistic abilities including oil painting, meticulous gift wrapping skills and her beautiful calligraphy. Christmas at the Mariorenzi residence was always an amazing sight to see. Marie would send out many Christmas cards with her beautiful heartfelt words, wrap over one hundred gifts for her children, bake many delicious treats and decorate the house with the many handmade decorations to the joy of everyone who was lucky enough to experience the holidays with the Mariorenzi family.
Marie was involved in our school at many levels. She read stories to the first and second graders in the school library, she volunteered to be a play monitor, and baked many cakes over the years for school fundraisers, and she has made our costumes for school plays, helped us with our homework and countless others. Marie was the best mother, friend and inspiration to her children and all who knew her.
Marie and Alfred loved to travel and explore the world. It was 14 years after they first married that Alfred and Marie were able to take a vacation by themselves. Later in life, Marie did some traveling with her family to France, Italy, Portugal, Switzerland, Spain and Mexico.
The Mariorenzi family celebrated life to the fullest as a result of Marie and Alfred’s fun and loving personalities. Marie was a very festive/joyful person always singing and dancing whenever she had an opportunity. She definitely made God and everyone around her laugh and smile! We will never forget the love she showed us all through the amazing parties/celebrations, planning the many family vacations, and the devotion to her family.
Through the good times and bad she always remained faithful to God. Marie’s devotion to her Catholic faith was very important to her. She taught her children, grandchildren and great grandchild to love and respect God. Marie led the family by her example, attending church services every Sunday and through the many prayers over the years.
We have been truly blessed with an amazing Mother and can never thank you enough for all your love, countless memories and devotion throughout the years. We love and miss you!
