On July 18, 2022, our dear Cookie has gone to the Lord in Heaven. Born March 12, 1945, in Canton, Stark County, Ohio to Frank Sylvia and Lena Mae (Haver) Worthington. Since her parents were both in the 40's when she was born, she was quite a surprise for Frank and Lena, who thought they were done having children when they were blessed with their daughter, Marlena. She spent her younger days in the Canton Ohio area, until the late 1950's when the family moved to La Puente, California, where she lived with her family until she married the love of her life, Thomas “Tommy” Bird on February 25, 1967. After Cookie and Tommy were married, Tommy went off to the Navy and Cookie moved in with his parents. She worked a few different jobs over the years, but her favorite job was when she ran a little daycare – she always loved “those kids” that she took care of and looked back fondly on those days quite often.
Cookie was born with the gift of gab – what would be a quick 5-minute hello easily became a 3-hour conversation. She always had a story to share with anyone who would listen (and even those who didn't), and never met a stranger she couldn't chat with. She loved going out to the casinos and eating out as often as she could and never passed up the chance to go.
Cookie is preceded in death by her parents, Frank and Lena, her sister Evelyn (Kenny) Cronin, brothers Frankie (Frances) Worthington, Rev. Lowell (Ken) Worthington, Don (Jo) Worthington, her nephew/kid-brother Gary Lee Cronin and her daughter Debra Mae Bird. She is survived by her husband Tommy, her children, Rebecca Bird, Kelly Swartz and James “Jimmy” Bird, her twin granddaughters, Ashley and Nicole Swartz, as well as many nieces, nephews, and friends who will all miss her terribly.
