
Mary was born in Springfield Illinois. She attended St. Monica’s high school in Santa Monica, California and UCLA, where she graduated from the school of nursing. Mary worked for United Airlines as a flight attendant. For 25 years she was employed as a public health nurse for LA County. She was a 40 year resident of Manhattan Beach and parishioner at American Martyrs Church. She volunteered at Manhattan Beach city hall, was a member of the Serra Club, and participated in Bible study and in many other church and social organizations.
Mary was an avid traveler and enjoyed sharing the stories of her travels throughout the world. In addition to her travels throughout the Americas, Europe and Asia, she traveled to the Middle East with her Bible study group to visit many Holy and historical sites. Having a great interest in history and world affairs, she loved to read and talk about historical and current events.
She died peacefully on September 29, 2006, with her family by her side. Mary was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and friend. She is now at peace with the Lord, Our Father. Mary will be greatly missed by her loving husband, Thomas, her three children, J.D. Kinimaka (and wife Kui), Malia Kinimaka, Kelly Kinimaka-Hurst (and husband Ed), her Father Burr Zachary, her brother William Zachary, and all 8 of her grandchildren.
Family and friends are invited to pray the Rosary at American Martyrs Church in Manhattan Beach at 7:00 PM on Thursday, October 5, 2006. A memorial mass will be held at American Martyrs Church in Manhattan Beach on Friday, October 6, 2006, at 1:00 PM followed by burial at Holy Cross Cemetery in Culver City.
