Born and raised in Los Angeles, Michael was one of eight siblings and the beloved son of Marlon Elisabeth Parker and Felton McGee Jr. He built a respected career as a Chief Engineer with IOUE 501, where he played a key role in leading and managing projects across clubs, universities, and buildings throughout the city. Known for his reliability and strong work ethic, Michael was someone you could always count on to see a job through. Though he did not attend a university, Michael's many certifications and accomplishments were a testament to his skill, dedication, and belief that success can be achieved in many ways. His career and character reflected his conviction that education extends beyond the classroom. Michael always cherished the value of education and lifelong learning.
Beyond his work, he deeply cared for his family and friends, remaining a constant presence they could depend on. With his extensive knowledge of engineering and the trades, he was always willing to lend a hand to those around him. If he didn’t know how to solve a problem, he had a unique gift: he would act as though he didn’t go home, study, and master it, turning determination into one of his greatest strengths. Michael was also a passionate hobbyist of antiques and music, with a special love for cars and furniture. He became well known for his rare collection of classic cars, each one reflecting his dedication and keen eye for detail. Just as much, he enjoyed unwinding with music, whether through a speaker or cruising around, he found joy in simply kicking back and listening to his favorite songs.
Beyond his work and hobbies, Michael was someone you could talk to about anything; he would listen closely and offer advice, whether good or bad, with honesty and care. He was the kind of person you could lean on. Though tough on the outside, those who truly knew him understood how deeply he cared for others. His compassion always shone through, and he never let pride or emotion stop him from helping someone in need.
Michael leaves behind his loving wife, his devoted son and daughter, and his cherished grandchildren, who will continue to carry forward his love and legacy. His visitation will occur on Wednesday, August 27, 2025, from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at Lighthouse Memorial & Reception – Rice Center, 5310 Torrance Blvd, Torrance, CA 90503. He will rest at Pacific Crest Cemetery, 2701 182nd St, Redondo Beach, CA 90278.
He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
