She was born in rural Arkansas on June 17, 1922- the youngest of five children. She got a ticket to go to Chicago after she graduated from high school from her cousin Tess and started working at Steven’s an upscale department store as a petite model. A few years later, she married John Douglas Walsh and then raised her daughter until she went to high school then resumed working again... She was California dreaming. Then when Sheila graduated from college and moved to California she, her two sisters, and brother followed her there.
Once she got to California she found a job at Northrup and worked there until she retired. After her retirement , her life began. She got a small part in a play her daughter directed and then got involved in a senior acting group in the South Bay. She got an agent and was the star in a commercial when she was over 65! Out of that acting group she and several of the other performers formed a group called the Reveler’s. They performed all over the South Bay and were featured in the Daily Breeze. Mollie was an actress and a dancer in the group. After twelve years they dispersed ,and Mollie rented out her house in Torrance and moved to Bakersfield in a senior community where she met a lot of friends and enjoyed a lot of fun activities.
After six years in central California, Mollie moved back to the LA area and lived at Nazareth House (an assisted living facility) in Los Angeles. On March 10, 2023 she passed quietly in her sleep. She was over a hundred years old. She is survived by her daughter, Sheila Walsh-Vargas.
