Nicole Veltri, 56 of Los Angeles California, sadly succumbed to her battle with cancer on June 25th, 2025. Nicole passed peacefully, surrounded by her devoted husband, Bill Magoon and her best friend, Monica Lago-Kaytis.
Nicole was born on October 16th 1968, in Los Angeles California, the daughter and only child of Joseph Veltri and Edda Wessel.
Nicole graduated from University (Uni) High School in 1986 and went on to study courses at Santa Monica College (SMC), earning her AA degree. Nicole then attended the University of California at Northridge (CSUN), earning herself a BA degree in education. Nicole continued her career path when accepted into the CA Educator program and earned her CA teachers credential. She then furthered her studies and received her CA teachers "Clear Credential" which is the highest level of teaching certification in the state of California.
Nicole worked for the Inglewood Unified School District (IUSD), as an elementary school teacher for almost 30 years. Throughout Nicole’s career, she exclusively taught Kindergarten and 1st & 2nd Grades. She truly loved the "little ones" and was always inspired by their zest for life and hunger for learning. Nicole was an accomplished educator and over the years had many students return as adults (and parents themselves) to see her and tell her how much she impacted their lives. Nicole was also highly respected and admired by her colleagues. During the COVID pandemic Nicole became the "go to" teacher for many of her colleagues to help them navigate the dreaded ZOOM school experience.
Nicole first met Bill Magoon the man that would become her husband in 1989 and they soon embarked on a long and loving relationship spanning 36 years. In 1998 they purchased their first home together and officially "tied the knot" by getting married in 2003. Throughout the next 22 years of marriage their love and commitment to each other only strengthened.
Nicole and Bill loved traveling and taking road trips. They made it a priority to go somewhere new each year. Nicole loved the sheer beauty and “awe” of America that can only be experienced from the road. In her spare time Nicole enjoyed spending time with family and friends, walking the dog, or just “hanging out” at home. She enjoyed classic rock music, gardening, cooking, baking, and was an absolute “Foodie”. Nicole really loved to experience new restaurants with her husband and friends. Additionally, she had a deep passion and love of animals. Nicole was a strong advocate for animal adoptions and no kill shelters. She was especially touched by the "Vick-tory Dogs" story and along with her husband became regular donators and visitors of the Best Friends Animal Society Rescue Sanctuary in Kanab, Utah.
Nicole had so many traits that made her special but first and foremost, was her smile. She had a stunning smile which would light up a room. She possessed a quick wit and wonderful sense of humor; she would make everyone laugh at even the most mundane of things. She was warm, caring, loving, and always the optimist. She saw the good in everyone and everything. Nicole was well known to drop whatever she was doing to help a friend, neighbor, or animal in need.
Nicole was a self-taught natural with computers and all things electronic. Family, friends and colleagues would frequently come to her for technical tips and tricks to get their own TVs and other devices working properly. Nicole was a truly amazing person in life and she will surely be missed.
