Randall -- I think of you often.  

Driving past your condo on Sherman Way and the many evenings we spent dreaming 
up tv shows  when we weren't watching boxing or listening to music--Sinatra's "In the Wee Small 
Hours of the Evening" which you gave me and is a favorite in the winter months.  Looking through 
your silver age comic collection (I hope that landed in appreciative hands).  Stories from your youth 
and your many childhood friends; one in particular: "The Wheel," who I never had the pleasure of 
meeting.   

So many daily habits built on your advice, which means you're still alive in my life on a regular basis.  
Yes, I can hear you!  Can you hear me?  
You're one step ahead of me now, and I can only wonder.

You were an original.  And will not be forgotten.

We'll always have the Golden Steer, cherries jubilee, and escargot. 
It never ceased to amaze me the wealth of knowledge you had. I could listen to you talk for hours. I'll never forget how much you tried to sell me on The Grateful Dead, and I tried! I still have the American Beauty CD you gave me, and now I'll cherish it more than ever, along with the MCM furniture book. 
It's funny, as I was unpacking and setting up my new place in NOHO, I couldn't wait for you to come over and joke about my terrible taste in the atomic age kitsch as we always would.
Randall, my dear, I will miss you terribly.

My deepest condolences to Randall's family. I'm so sorry for your loss.

I will always fondly remember our many conversations about Film Noir, growing up in the San Fernando Valley and the way things were in the 60's & 70's here, Our respective collections of various oddities and of course his beloved pipes. 
He educated me regularly on Dunhill and it's history as well as sharing his latest finds there. He offered regularly to blend me up a perfect tobacco mix, and daring me to try it in his recently acquired Psychedelic California Style pipe with all the crazy colors.
He shared pictures of his wonderful retro toy robots which he knew I love! He would tell me about their history and even shared short videos of them walking with their lights and sounds. He most recently obtained a big 36 inch robot called Big Loo. It was a real find as it is in working condition. Randall was really happy about adding Loo to his growing collection.
His sharp wit and friendly encouragement, along with a caring friendship will truly be missed.
