Ricardo Mari "Ricky" Evangelista Navarro, a 20-year resident of Torrance California, joined his Creator on April 8, 2021. In his last ten years, he battled with and often, by sheer will, overcame the ravages of cancer. Throughout his life, he made sure to spend time with his family, leaving memories and instilling life-lessons in his sons, kept in touch with his friends both in the US and in the Philippines, and, in more peaceful moments, took care of the trees and plants he grew and cultivated in their backyard. He didn't miss a birthday or holiday. Even in the trying circumstances of the past year, he would make sure to call, text, or video conference with loved ones. He was an everyman: a father, a husband, a brother, and a friend.
Ricky was married to Joanne Fua Navarro. They celebrated their 20th wedding anniversary a week before he passed away. He was a devoted father to his sons Janrick and Rhylan. Ricky was born on March 17, 1967, the youngest son of Manuel Navarro(†) and Hortencia Evangelista (†). Ricky is survived by his siblings Luchi and Rona, his sisters-in-law Sally, Caridad, Katrina and Romina, his brothers-in-law Joju, Jayson, Joel and Elmer, his mother in-law Priscilla Fua, and numerous cousins, aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, grand nieces, grand nephews, friends.
Ricky is preceded in death by his parents, his brothers Rizalino and Jose Mari, and his sister Sonya.
An intimate Celebration of Ricky's Life will be held at Green Hills Memorial Park on April 23. Services will be private.
