
A 49 year resident of the South Bay passed away on Thursday, November 25, 2004 in Gardena. Born in Manchester, CT, Richard was 57. He served as a Sergeant in the Marine Corp during Vietnam. Richard was in the fumigation industry for over 35 years. He was an avid sports fan (Rams) who loved being surrounded by family and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents Clifford and Albina Kanehl and his brother John Kanehl. Left to mourn his passing is his beloved wife Helen of Gardena; daughters Rhonda (John) McNeil of Torrance, Christine Paugh of Torrance, Cathy (Dan) Paugh-Hill of Reno, NV, Becky Kanehl of Gardena; grandchildren Lance Corporal Joshua McNeil, Mathew McNeil, Erica Marcotte and Ryan Mendez; along with his sister, Chris Baker of Anaheim. Visitation will be held Wednesday, December 1, from 4:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. at Rice Mortuary, 5310 Torrance Blvd. in Torrance with Rosary Services beginning at 7:00 P.M. in the Mortuary Chapel. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Thursday, December 2, at 10:00 A.M. at St. Lawrence Martyr Catholic Church, 1900 So. Prospect Avenue in Redondo Beach. Burial will follow with procession to and Military Honors at Riverside National Cemetery beginning at 1:45 P.M. at Staging Area #4.
